Video Recording at Home

August 3, 2020Posted by Daniel Goldstein

COVID-19 has forced a lot of people to spend more time speaking on video calls and making recordings of themselves talking.  We’re lucky that webcams and especially smartphones have cameras that can produce fairly decent video, and we want to help you make your homemade recordings the best they can be, so we put together some tips!

Some details:
If you’re using an iOS/Apple device, you should send us the file that the native/built-in Camera app creates, without doing any kind of modification/changes.
If you’re using an Android device, I’d recommend Cinema FV-5 Lite available for free at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.cinema.lite. Please follow the instructions on page 33 of http://www.cinemafv5.com/files/cinema_fv-5_the_official_user_guide.pdf and set the audio’s Encoding format to AAC-HE (high efficiency) to ensure that you record the best possible audio.
