Blackmagic Design to Introduce New Routers?

Video routers have been a shining star in the revenue bottom lines of manufacturers. Ross Video, with their excellent Ultrix line of routers, has seen revenue for that product rival that of their switching consoles.

Undoubtedly, competition from Grass Valley, Sony, ForA, NewTek, Roland, Blackmagic Design and a host of other hardware and software based video switching platforms have made vision mixers a crowded space. Routers may prove to be a less crowded product space in which to compete.

Enter Blackmagic Design. Blackmagic Design routers were first introduced in 2006 with the launch of the Videohub series. These routers were designed to be compact, affordable, and easy to use, while also providing high-quality video routing capabilities. The Videohub routers quickly gained popularity among video professionals, and Blackmagic Design continued to expand its line of routers over the years.

In 2015, Blackmagic Design introduced the Universal Videohub series, which offered higher capacity and more advanced features than the original Videohub routers. These routers were designed to be modular and scalable, allowing users to add additional input and output modules as needed.

In 2017, Blackmagic Design introduced the Smart Videohub series, which added features such as built-in control panels and monitoring capabilities. The Smart Videohub routers were designed to be more user-friendly and accessible than previous models, while still offering high-end routing capabilities.

Today, Blackmagic Design offers a wide range of routers, including the Videohub, Universal Videohub, and Smart Videohub series. These routers are used by video professionals around the world in a variety of applications, from broadcast and post-production to live events and installations.

Blackmagic Design is a manufacturer of professional video equipment, including video routers. The company was founded in 2001 by Grant Petty in Australia.
